This filter provides an easy way to apply the most
common curves - S-Curve and Gamma correction. S and Gamma curves
control the image contrast and brightness without clipping dark and
bright values.
Parameters:
S
Curve
S-Curve
adds
more
contrast to midtones at the expense of shadows and
highlights. The inverted S-Curve "stretches" the shadows and highlights
whereas midtones get compressed.
Value of 0.0 = no change. Positive - S-Curve. Negative - inverted
S-Curve.
Gamma
Gamma
curve
changes
the image brightness (mostly for midtones) without
clipping shadows and highlights.
Value of 0.0 = no change. Positive - midpoint up. Negative - midpoint
down.
Midtone
contrast is visually more important than in shadows and highlights and
the S-Curve is usually the best way to adjust the tonal range. In
"S-Gamma RGB" you can also adjust colors for shadows, midtones and
highlights.
And more - each film's unique character is defined by its color space
and tonal curve. Playing with curves in "S-Gamma RGB" and with colors
in "Channel Mixer" you can simulate almost any film, photo paper,
digiatal camera or display.
